Dementia Friendly Training

The Dementia Friendly First Responder Training Program helps law enforcement and other first responders create a dementia-friendly culture that embraces, supports, and properly responds to residents with dementia and their caregivers. This training will teach you how to become Dementia knowledgeable, Dementia Sensitive, and Dementia Responsive. Upon completion of this online training program, you will receive 1 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and a printable certificate of completion for your records. A short pre and post test is required to measure your knowledge before receiving the training, and upon completion of your training. The Dementia Friendly First Responder Training program is also available as an onsite training event. Contact your local area agency on aging to schedule a training event on site at your local department.

The purpose of requiring each first responder to complete the pre and post test questions provides us with very important information to measure the effectiveness of our training program. It also helps you see the value of completing the training program so you can gain the knowledge and tools needed to better “respond” to individuals you encounter in the field. The pre and post test questions can be completed within just a matter of minutes and is invaluable for us as we continually improve our first responding training programs.
